Do you like poetry? Do you write poems? You will be surprised to find out that you can write pretty entertaining poems while practicing English. An easy way to come up with an idea is using patterns to create a pile of words, and then connecting those words in a meaningful way. It doesn’t have to be too logical, nor has to follow each grammatical rule because poetry is a form of art; but you do need to connect the meanings by tying the story together.
Here is an example to practice verb consistency by using it as a pattern. Tense confusion is something you should pay attention to when writing in English.
The sun rose
Knocked on my window
The sound woke me up
And I saw the light
Opened the window
Welcomed the shine inside
Wore it on my skin
Like a dress made of silk
Radiating the fragrance of spring
Are you ready to play and create your own poem? Try it, pick the first memory that comes to your mind now and create a fictional story starting from there. Feel free to share it (as a comment or on Facebook) if you write one! 🙂
