Word Vancouver Festival (previously known as The Word on the Street) is a great celebration of literacy and reading. It will be held on the last weekend of September at Library Square in downtown Vancouver. The festival promotes books and authors with free exhibits, performances, and hands-on activities for a wide range of ages and interests. It has attracted numerous famous Canadian authors for author readings, such as Margaret Atwood, Pierre Berton, Arthur Black, Joy Fielding, Timothy Findley, Dennis Lee, Robert Munsch, Paul Quarrington, Michael Redhill, and David Suzuki, to name just a few.
It’s a great experience for English students who want to challenge their listening skills. Check out the program: wordvancouver.ca/2013-festival/2013-schedule
